Advanced Preparations:
If a Catholic or denominational ceremony is required, three months advance notice is required to
reserve the church.
Residency and Legal Requirements: Applications to marry are made through a local lawyer to
the Attorney General who issues the marriage license following the three day residency requirements
for the couple. The Attorney General should receive the application at least two working days
before the license is needed.
Original Documents Required Are As Follows:
Passports or Birth Certificates
Stamped Immigration Cards
Original of proof of Decree Absolute if parties are divorced. If the decree is not the original, a certified / notarized copy must be obtained
Original of Death Certificate in the case of widow / widower
Original proof if name changed by Deed Poll
If aged under 18 years, evidence of consent of parents is required in the form of an original affidavit stamped by a Notary Public
If any of the required documents are not in English, an authenticated translation must be available
It is recommended that copies of all documentation be sent several weeks in advance to expedite license application
